There is an undergraduate research
position available in the Forest lab starting this semester (ASAP) and
extending for at least 2 additional semesters (including the summer
semester). We have a preference for students with the following
credentials:
Enrolled in Organic Chemistry I (CHEM
2311), with preference given to students who have already completed 2311
and are enrolled in / have completed Organic Chemistry II (CHEM 2312).
Detail oriented, comfortable handling chemicals in a fume hood, and can
work independently. The student must be able to commit 10 hours a week
and have good communication skills.
This project entails working in an
interdisciplinary group with engineering, biology, and chemistry. This
position will focus on creating porous monoliths in microfluidic devices
for bacterial communication experiments. Past students have earned
patents, journal papers, conferences, grants, and recommendation
letters. The first semester will focus on training, but subsequent
semester will require more independent work. For an overview of the
