New GT student organization, Our Stars.
The purpose of Our Stars is to:
A. Engage - Build a strong community relationship between Our Stars
members and minors with disabilities in a socially accepting and
encouraging environment.
B. Impact - Increase awareness about the absence of minors with
disabilities in social events and host events to decrease this absence.
C. Empower - Promote a positive future by demonstrating important life
skills and encouraging them to strive and reach their goals.
Presently they are working with students and teachers in the Special
Needs Department at Hollis Innovation Academy where they seek to bring
STEM capabilities that will help students in that school.
Below, you will see they are holding a fund raiser tomorrow
(Tuesday, September 13) from 8:30 to 10:30 pm at Rocky Mountain Pizza
just off Tenth Street on Hemphill, then again on October 4 and November 8th.
If you are looking for somewhere to go for a bit of food and libations,
think about stopping by and supporting their cause.
