NSF Research
Experiences for Undergraduates at UAB in Experimental and Computational Materials Research
I
would appreciate your help again this year in spreading the word about our NSF
Sponsored 2013 Research Experience for
Undergraduate. Please forward this message to your undergraduate students in
the sciences:
More information
and application can be found at: https://www.uab.edu/cnmb/research-experiences-for-undergraduates
The program dates
are May 20 to Jul 26, 2013. The application deadline is March 15 2012, but you
should consider getting your documentation in place early, including securing
letters of recommendation from faculty. Decisions will be made no later than
April 1, 2012.
Quoting from the
letter I received, "The research projects include, but are not limited to, high
pressure materials research, thin film growth and characterization,
microelectronic materials, nano-materials, laser materials, bioceramics and
biopolymers, planetary materials, modeling of gas phase chemistry and surfaces
in materials growth, and computer simulation of materials."
The REU program
will pay a $4,000 stipend for the ten weeks period, plus additional support for
housing, travel and other expenses. If you have questions about logistics,
housing, and travel arrangements, please contact Charita Cadenhead <charita@uab.edu> or by phone
at (205)975-8076.
Thank you so much
for your passing this along. Last year, we had the best response
EVER.
