Accenture Innovation Challenge

Accenture is thrilled to partner with international non-profit organization Habitat for Humanity for the 2017 U.S. Innovation Challenge – an event combining hands-on consulting experience with the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community and land an Accenture internship.

The deadline for eligible students to apply is Monday, February 6th.
If selected to participate in this multi-round event, students will be partnered with Accenture coaches and use their analytical, strategic thinking, and creative problem solving skills to innovate – and possibly help implement – solutions to real-world challenges that are faced by our non-profit partner. Details about challenge dates, prized and eligibility are available below.

Only students from select schools and programs are eligible to compete, and Accenture is pleased to extend this opportunity to Georgia Tech students. Please help us share information about this opportunity by forwarding the registration email (attached) to members of your student organization who may be interested in participating.

You can also find further details about the 2017 U.S. Innovation Challenge and watch highlights from past Challenges on our website at https://www.accenture.com/us-en/Careers/innovation-competition.

Summer 2017 - Aramaco - Cambridge, MA and several locations

Industrial summer job opportunity with Aramco in  the Cambridge MA area (see attached application form). The job will provide experience in an industrial research environment. Aramco is a major petrochemicals company. One of our PhD alums passed this along and has explicitly stated that they are looking for students pursuing a chemistry BS.
Dr. Steven Hayden (GT PhD alum), who is a Senior Research Scientist at ASC, shared the
position.

Note: The official call for students is general for the company as a whole. The students that Dr. Hayden is looking for will be involved in research efforts with the Advanced Materials Team at the Aramco Research Center in Cambridge, MA.

ASC is looking primarily for chemists and chemical engineers who want experience with an industrial research setting. Per Dr. Hayden, one of the other attractive aspects is that they are currently publishing quite a bit, so it is possible (not guaranteed, and depending on the level of the student’s involvement) for them to get paper authorship out of the experience.

Dr. Hayden’s research thrusts are in catalysis (nanosynthesis, characterization, testing, etc.), membranes (gas separations, polymer chemistry, mesostructure, etc.) and network integrity (nanoscale steel corrosion, electrochemistry, [electron] microscopy / microanalysis, etc.).

Human Resources is now accepting candidates for the 2017 ASC Summer Student Program.
Criteria for Consideration
·         Must have been enrolled in U.S. undergraduate college during the 2016-17 school year.
·         Must be enrolled full time as an undergraduate student in a U.S. college for fall 2017.
·         Must not have participated in two previous Summer Student Programs (i.e., students may participate a maximum of two times).
·         Must apply by the deadline, Monday, February 27.

How to Apply
Email the following to Addie Braziel by the deadline:
·         Application (attached)*
·         Resume
·         Cover letter
Applicants will hear from HR by the last week in March.

Application Deadline:
Monday, February 27

Student Benefits
Participating in the Summer Student Program provides opportunities for students to:
·         Help with administrative tasks critical to business functions.
·         Work closely with other professionals, making new friends and long-term contacts.
·         Observe the everyday activities of a global company’s corporate environment.

summer 2017 - Siemens Foundation

Last summer, in partnership with the global healthcare nonprofit PATH, the Siemens Foundation launched the Siemens Foundation PATH Fellowships.  The program engages undergraduate and graduate STEM students in innovative, practical, and low-cost research and laboratory experiences.  The program accelerates solutions to real world issues for those most in need and connects emerging scientists to career opportunities in global health (Fellowship Descriptions). I’m pleased to announce that the Siemens Foundation is again underwriting this important program.  Importantly, the Fellowships provide generous compensation and living stipends.

With your leadership in STEM in mind,  I’m asking for your support in identifying and encouraging students you consider good candidates for a Siemens Foundation PATH Fellowship.   Our partners at PATH share our commitment to offering this opportunity to a diverse cohort of students.  By sharing information about this unique opportunity with students who meet the fellowship application criteria, you will further their careers and advance efforts to overcome global health challenges.

With thanks and best regards,

David
