A molecular biology lab technologist position is available within a growing and successful laboratory located in Atlanta, GA.​ Medical Neurogenetics, LLC is an innovative clinical, diagnostic and research company that specializes in metabolic and mitochondrial disorders.​

Job Responsibilities:
• Perform laboratory analyses using biochemical and molecular techniques including PCR, gel electrophoresis, RFLP, MLPA, sequencing (capillary and next-generation) and Western blot analysis.​
• Interact with senior laboratory personnel on a daily basis to review progress and problems.​ Think independently to troubleshoot problems and make improvements.​
• Perform routine laboratory maintenance and keep records of all reagents and equipment.​
• Maintain laboratory environmental health and safety activities including radioactive waste, chemical waste, and biohazardous waste disposal.​
• Review scientific and technical journals, abstracts and scientific literature to stay informed about new research, technologies and protocols.​
• Understand and prepare statistical calculations, analyze data and prepare reports summarizing data.​
• Assist in clinical setting with patient sample collection and transportation to the lab for further analysis.​

Qualifications:
• B.​S.​, M.​S.​, or Ph.​D.​ degree in a scientific discipline
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in a molecular lab setting required
• Theoretical knowledge of Life Sciences such as Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Biochemistry.​
• Experience and a demonstrated ability in performing Cellular and Molecular Biology techniques including PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, DNA/​RNA isolation, restriction enzyme digests, gel electrophoresis, sequencing (capillary and next-generation) and Protein Chemistry
techniques including Western blotting.​
• Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of various lab equipment including thermocyclers, gel-imaging equipment, centrifuges, gel electrophoresis equipment, and DNA sequencers.​
• Experience with personal computer and software applications, such as MS Access, Word and Excel.​
• Ability to accurately and efficiently collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data.​
• Excellent time management skills, accurate record keeping, attention to detail.​
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed to interact professionally in the laboratory and clinical environment.​
• Ability to read, comprehend, and discuss research materials.​
• Knowledge of radiation safety and biosafety techniques and practices.​ Experience with handling of chemical, radioisotope, and biological hazards.​
