CDC ORISE fellowships 2015 - three positions

My name is Joanne Mei and I am Chief of the Newborn Screening Quality Assurance Program at CDC. We will be filling three ORISE fellowships this spring and early summer. We are looking for BS Chemists and Biologists. Could you please circulate this job description to likely candidates?
 
Fellowships (up to 4-year appointment for graduates within 5 years of receiving their last academic degree) are available within Newborn Screening and Molecular Biology Branch, Division of Laboratory Sciences, National Center for Environmental Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Chamblee, GA 30341) for bachelor's level chemists, biologists, or biochemists.
 
General fellowship description:
 
  1. Serve as a member of the Biochemical Mass Spectrometry Laboratory (BMSL) or the Newborn Screening Quality Assurance Program within the Newborn Screening and Molecular Biology Branch. 
  2. Produce, characterize, and analyze data for dried blood spot (DBS) materials used for quality assurance programs provided to state public health newborn screening laboratories and international laboratories.
  3. Conduct and assist research into the development of new DBS materials, assays, and applications in newborn screening, in collaboration with academic, private and state public health laboratories.
 
Candidates should have a working knowledge of analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or biology, and basic statistics. Familiarity with some or all of the following methods is desired: tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) systems, enzyme immunoassay, fluorescence assays, high-performance liquid chromatography, electrophoresis, and analytical chemistry techniques (i.e. use of pipettes, preparation of standard solutions, volumetric techniques). Independent research and current laboratory experience are advantageous but not required.
