CDC Division of Laboratory Science - BS level position - Spring 2016

Here is a job opportunity for your graduating seniors or recent graduates. The position is at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Division of Laboratory Sciences, Tobacco and Volatiles Branch. We are seeking a candidate with a B.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related scientific discipline to join the CDC as an ORISE research fellow in the Tobacco Products Laboratory. The position would involve chemical research on a variety of tobacco products including cigarettes, smokeless products, and electronic cigarettes.

Job Functions to Include:

Sample Preparation

Data Acquisition

Routine Instrument Maintenance/Troubleshooting

Data Reporting including written and oral presentations

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Physics or related subject

Basic understanding of chemistry laboratory practices

General knowledge of analytical chemistry

Analytical instrumentation experience (GC-MS and/or LC-MS a plus but not required)

Laboratory research experience (including proper record keeping and laboratory safety practices)

Ability to effectively communicate and work with others in team environment
