NOBCChE National Conference 2017

The National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) is hosting our national conference at the Radisson Blu and Marriott in Downtown Minneapolis, MN from Oct 30th to Nov 3rd. 
The theme for our 44th Annual conference is  “We are NOBCChE: Community, Leadership, & Partnerships”. This conference is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate, graduate students, and post docs (and faculty)! NOBCChE takes pride in building a community of scholars who are leaders in every endeavor.  
We encourage you to invite your students to submit an abstract and apply for a conference grant.  Through the generous support of our corporate sponsors we are able to provide twice as many scholarships this year.  The conference is a great chance for your students to present their work and begin preparing for the next chapter in their lives.

Conference Events Include: 
  • Student and professional development workshops
  • Elevator Speech and Open Mic Student Competition 
  • Student/Professional Poster Session and technical talks – submit an abstract to present your research! 
  • Career Fair - Network with professionals from Industry and Graduate Schools.  Numerous Fortune 500 companies will be in attendance.  
All students are encouraged to attend! Undergraduate, Graduate Students and Post Docs can receive free registration and hotel through the Advancing Science Travel Grant (ASTG)  
Abstracts for technical presentations are due August 31st.   Applications for Travel Grants are made through the same portal and have the same deadline.

Internship

HEPACO, LLC, an environmental subcontractor located throughout the United States, is seeking an upper classmen in the chemistry department to fulfill a paid internship opportunity  in our wastewater treatment laboratory.  The likely candidate will be experienced in compiling data, organizing graphs, tables, charts, etc.  The candidate will have a working knowledge of laboratory equipment and will be expected to comply with all health and safety requirements.  On-hand training will be provided and the scheduling will be flexible so as to not interfere with the candidates course load.  There is a potential that this opportunity turns into a full time position.  HEPACO, LLC strives to provide a real world working environment that will benefit both the future of our company and the candidate.   All interested candidates should forward their resume and/or any questions regarding the position to Peter Rutkowski at prutkowski@hepaco.com no later than Friday, September 1, 2017.  HEPACO, LLC looks forward to continuing to build a solid working relationship with GA Tech and their student body.

International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers - August 28, 2017 meeting




The Georgia Tech Chapter of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers is recruiting new members for the 2017 – 2018 school year! ISPE’s goal is to connect students and industry professionals to all aspects of the pharmaceutical industry.  Students of all majors are welcome to attend an info meeting on August 28th at 5pm in Student Center Room 321 to learn about our upcoming plans for the year and meet our industry and faculty advisors. This fall, ISPE will be hosting pharmaceutical plant tours, talks with industry professionals, a mentorship program and fun networking activities! Fall 2017 College of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia!

UGA will host our annual Fall Visitors Day on Saturday, August 25 from 9am to 12pm in Athens, GA.  The Visitors Day is an opportunity for prospective pharmacy students to learn more about the Doctor of Pharmacy program, the admissions process, and numerous leadership and professional development activities in the College of Pharmacy.  

Attendees will interact with current students, faculty, and staff.  Immediately after the event, UG Pharm students will host a PCAT prep session.
