University of Tennessee (Knoxville) REU

It is our pleasure to inform you of the 2018 NSF-funded REU Program in Chemistry at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. This program offers a 10-week intensive research experience spanning the field of chemistry. While research opportunities across all traditional chemistry disciplines are available, the focus of our REU site is on the development of advanced materials for energy and sensing applications.

In addition to the research experience, participants in our REU program will engage in a range of activities designed to develop complementary skills that are beneficial for success in graduate school and scientific research careers. These include professional development programs such as enhancing presentation and writing skills as well as site visits to local research institutions including Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Eastman Chemical. REU students will receive a $5,000 stipend for the 10-week program, free housing on campus and up to $500 of reimbursement on eligible costs for travel to and from Knoxville.

Application deadline: February 1st, 2018
