Salary commensurate with training and experience
As a condition of employment, selected applicants must fully understand and agree to relocating to the Southwestern Regional Laboratory in Moultrie, GA as the final work location. Applicants selected for employment will be trained at the GBI Headquarters in Decatur, GA. Duration of the training program at the GBI Headquarters depends on the applicant’s prior experience in the field of forensic chemistry. Relocation to the Southwestern Regional Laboratory in Moultrie, GA will occur after training has been completed.
Selected applicants must also be willing to sign a written service agreement to serve in the position for a minimum of two (2) months for each month of training received, up to a maximum of twelve (12) months of training. The service agreement states that the employee will reimburse the GBI Crime Lab for the cost of training (pro-rated) if he/she voluntarily terminates employment before completion of the service obligation.
The positions will be filled at a level commensurate with the training and experience of the individuals selected.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from an accredited college or university, which included the successful completion of at least 40 semester (or 60 quarter) hours of chemistry coursework OR a forensic science degree, which included the successful completion of at least 40 semester (or 60 quarter) hours of chemistry coursework.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under immediate supervision, learns to perform laboratory examinations, scientific analyses and comparisons on physical evidence submitted by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies for investigative and legal purposes.
