Job Description
The Commercial Development Program is a 6 month program that prepares college graduates to become account managers for one of our global businesses through leading edge marketing and sales assignments.
Our account managers are solutions consultants for our customers. They work closely with customers to better understand their business goals, application requirements and manufacturing environment. They then match Dow solutions to needed customer results.
Dow account managers work in an industrial marketing environment. They are interested in long-term supplier partnerships with strategic customers, not the one-time-only sale. Account managers implement growth strategies with companies at which they have established relationships as well as development strategies at pre-qualified potential accounts. They interface with a variety of people in customer organizations including technology contacts who specify materials, manufacturing contacts who work with materials and purchasing contacts who influence economic decisions.
The job offers a wide range of variety-—In terms of what you do during the work week as well as the types of companies, industries and applications with which you work.
Qualifications
We are seeking spring 2012, graduates with BS degrees in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, or management degrees and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Potential candidates must be U.S citizens or individuals with permanent residence status and unrestricted employment authorization. This job may be an excellent fit for you if (1) you want to use your engineering degree, but are seeking alternatives to traditional plant or process engineering, (2) you are interested in developing and using business skills, (3) you would like a job with a high degree of people interaction, (4) you desire freedom and flexibility in developing and achieving your own goals in managing your job, (5) you want a significant amount of responsibility and accountability early in your career (our account managers are responsible for several million dollars worth of business), and (6) the opportunity to travel on the job. No prior courses in business or experience in business is needed—the Commercial Development Program will provide you with the skills needed for career success.
